NRCC Announcements
AGM and Committee Meeting of 12 December 2009 - 17 December 2009

A quick summary for all you internet fanatics!?

All three resolutions were passed by the membership, resolution 1 was passed 121 votes to 22, resolution 2 was passed 88 votes to 55, and resolution 3 was passed 118 votes to 31.

Our race programme will be Dunbar, Perth, Fraserburgh, Lerwick, and Thurso, with a Dunbar race for young birds and old hens.

Ian Bellamy now holds the offices of Race Secretary and Treasurer, and Stephen Spinks will remain General Secretary and take over the role of Convoyer.

Leroy King has become a committee member, and we still remain one committee member short for Section 7. Anyone from that section who might be interested should give the Secretary a call on 01733 573109.

The club lost some £5k in 2009, and in an attempt to claw some of this loss back, further administrative savings will be applied. We also hope that we do not have to "holdover" too many times in 2010, as these costs attributed £2K to our loss in 2009. The committee have therefore increased entry fees as follows: Dunbar to £2.20, Perth to £2.80, Fraserburgh to £3.20, Lerwick to £6.00, Thurso to £4.00, with the Dunbar YB staying at £2.00. In an attempt to increase the entry for the old hens race, the entry fee has been put back to £2.00. Federation convoying charges were substantially increased last year, and will remain as 2009.

All marking stations will be maintained.

A club stand will again be available at the Blackpool Show of the Year, and some good quality youngsters will be on sale again. Next meeting 13 February 2010.

Race Dates 2010 - 26 October 2009

Race dates for 2010 season will be:

15 May, 29 May, 12 June, 26 June, 17 July and 11 September

Committee Meeting - 26 October 2009

NRCC Committee News

The committee met last Saturday in Peterborough for the first of their scheduled four gatherings.

Apologies were sent from our President, Bob Preston of Ipswich, who was away on holiday in the Canary Islands.

Firstly, it was confirmed that all information with regard to transport, island ferries etc for our proposed race from Saxa Vord in 2011 had been gathered in, and all appears in order for the race to take part in 2011, race marking on a Wednesday for a Saturday liberation. Suggested cost per bird to be £10.

2009 races were then discussed. The new automated telephone verification service worked well, and also the committee had trialled email verifications that also appeared successful. All winners had donated pigeons for sale on the NRCC website, and these sold well, although there is one sale that needs confirming. This certainly raised interest amongst members, and also provides much needed monies for club funds.

The race results were confirmed, with two corrections, one in section 4 at Dunbar OB race, and one at Thurso in section 7.

The Secretary confirmed that only birds verified by the members went forward to the club result. The club DO NOT count all birds timed; only those written on the verification cards go forward to the result. Members should note this for the future.

The races income and expenditure figures were studied, with a profit showing of around £5k. As the subscriptions struggle to cover the club admin costs then this race profit is essential to the club, and the chairman thanked the committee for their past good judgement.

It was confirmed that the year’s prize cheques would be posted out to the membership in the next couple of weeks, so look out for your money!

The cost of providing printed race results, both in the BHW and those copied and posted was discussed at length. A proposition for the AGM to amend rule 14 has been received, and if adopted the “posted” result will no longer be made available.

Marking stations were discussed, and it appears that the station at Cambridge has been lost. The club may have to consider a replacement, so if there is anyone out there willing to help on this matter please make contact.

2010 race dates were decided as: - 15 May, 29 May, 12 June, 26 June, 17 July and 11 September. Members to propose the race-points to suite these dates.

A CAR RING SCHEME for 2010 was considered. The committee feelings were “mixed”, and it was decided to leave over to the next meeting on 21 November 2009.

This year’s dinner has changed venues, and all members have now received their invites. At the moment support for the event looks promising.

The rooms at The Sibson Inn, Peterborough have all now been booked, but The Marriott Hotel close by will take any further reservations. A taxi will be provided by the club to ferry the guests. The committee would love George Wheatman to attend and present the prizes, and Chairman Brian Garnham will pass-on that invite to George.

The club will have a stand again at Blackpool, and also a presence at the Four Counties Show at Bury St Edmunds.

This years yearling events from Perth and Thurso were deemed to be successful, and therefore may be expanded in 2010 with more prizes and awards. This will be discussed further at future meetings.

The next meeting is scheduled for 21 November 2009, and all members are reminded that resolutions for the AGM should be with the club by

12 November 2009.
